The Columbus Fire Department came to the library last week. They did a fabulous job explaining their job. The boys got to see the fireman in complete uniform, air tank and all. They also got to practice how to respond if they were stuck in a burning house and needed help from a fireman. After they read stories about firemen and practiced “stop, drop, and roll,” we headed outside to check out the fire truck. Courben hopped right on in and explored, while Judah stood back and observed. I was able to convince Judah to at least stand on the back of the truck instead of climbing in to drive. After all, it’s not every day they are able to get up close and personal with those monstrous vehicles. What a fun morning!
