Swim lessons are going a bit differently this year compared to how they went when Courben was a baby. To start with, the water in a city pool is freezing compared to the water in Kari’s heated pool. Secondly, I do not get in for lessons this time. I tried getting in to help calm him down, but it only made things worse. And lastly, Courben is much more apprehensive than he was when he was tiny. There were tears, “I can’t”s, and “I’m cold”s. There was a silver lining in the lesson, though. Towards the end, he actually kicked his feet and put his face in the water to blow bubbles. Thankfully, the lessons are free. Let’s just hope next time goes a bit better than this time.
