Due to the near freezing temperatures yesterday, my littlest fan could not come cheer me on in my first half marathon. Courben stayed back at the hotel with Mimi and played. The poor fella held up pretty well despite the circumstances. Here's the recap: Music Together and a wedding on Saturday. By 4:45 pm, we were in the car with Kristen, heading to Grand Rapids, Michigan. We arrived at a delicious Italian restaurant by 6:45 pm with a starving, screaming baby. He was quickly fed, introduced to Kristen's parents, and hanging out with Grampa and Mimi by 7:00 pm. Unfortunately, we were not seated at a table until 7:45 pm. Keep in mind, Mister C usually hits the sack right around 8:00 pm. We were able to enjoy our pre-race pasta dinner while Courben chowed down on some roasted red peppers and chicken. He was in bed by 9:15, but not asleep til 10:00. His sleep was restless, which made mine nonexistent! I'm pretty sure he slept through the night, but I only got about five broken-up hours of sleep. As if that wasn't enough, he was woken up at 6:45 am to nurse and have breakfast before I headed to the race. Thankfully for Mimi, he took a decent nap and ate well for her. While they were at the hotel, Kristen and I ran 13.1 miles in 1:56:02. Not bad for my first time and having to stop for a potty break and play catch-up for two miles.
